Kin Carers Connect Charitable Trust
Setting up and running Support Groups for Kin Carers in the wider areas in the Bay of Plenty and Western Bay.
Kin Carers Connect is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting kinship caregivers — grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and extended family— who step in to raise children when parents cannot.
We believe that when family step up, communities must stand beside them. Our mission is to empower and equip kinship carers with knowledge, resources, training, and local support so they can provide children with stability, resilience, and hope.
Kin Carers connect is built on a simple principle: funds raised locally stay local, ensuring caregivers see real, practical support where it’s needed most. This in turn, creates an environment where children can thrive.
Who we support:
For many kin carers, raising these children is the result of an unexpected and often traumatic event that requires a significant readjustment to their lives and the lives of children. The journey is not just about stepping in to provide care — it’s about navigating the complexities of a new family dynamic, managing emotional and financial stress, and ensuring that children have the stability, love, and guidance they need to thrive.
At Kin Carers Connect, we understand the unique challenges faced by kinship caregivers, and we’re committed to offering support, resources, and a community that truly understands their journey.
