Sustainability Options

Sustainability Options

We would appreciate any generosity from businesses providing: low-cost access to purchase products/services, contributing free products/services to go to the homes of whānau, or providing funding, donations, or sponsorship.

Sustainability Options is an altruistic, for purpose business dedicated to serving people and the planet with compassion. Our work centres on social, environmental, and community wellbeing, and we provide free sustainable living advice to households across the Bay of Plenty.

We believe business can be a force for good. Our vision is a world shaped by compassionate business, and our mission is to engage people in mahi that advances social justice, environmental care, charitable good, and human compassion. Every day, we advocate for and support ethical, sustainable living solutions – with the long term goal of visiting every home in our region.

Our mahi spans a wide range of projects:
• Healthy Homes Initiative: In partnership with Tauranga Community Housing Trust, we deliver the Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Healthy Homes Initiative across the Bay of Plenty and Lakes regions, helping whānau create warmer, drier, healthier homes.
• 20 Degrees collaborative vision: We lead this region wide effort to improve living conditions through home assessments, repairs, education, and cross sector collaboration, strengthening whānau wellbeing and creating healthier homes throughout the Bay. This is made possible by philanthropic funders.
• GreenDrinks: We host free networking events that bring together thought leaders, practitioners, and community members to spark kōrero and connection on sustainability kaupapa.
• Repurposing demolition waste: We actively seek opportunities to divert materials from landfill and use them to support whānau with essential home improvements that boost warmth, dryness, and energy efficiency.
• Purposeful Economy Hub: We’ve launched Tauranga’s Inner Development Goals Purposeful Economy Hub – a growing movement proving that profit and purpose can thrive together. The hub connects people who believe business should serve both people and the planet.
• Social Value and SROI: Through training with Social Value Aotearoa, we’re building our capability to measure and understand the real impact of our mahi. This helps us learn, improve, and share insights with others exploring their own social impact journeys.
• Energy literacy workshops: thanks to our funders, we deliver workshops that help households understand and manage their energy use, empowering whānau to make informed, cost saving choices.

Across all of this work, our commitment remains the same: to uplift communities, protect the environment, and champion compassionate business that puts people first.
